Questions

Questions, answered plainly.

No hidden line in a PDF, no call required to find the fee. Here is the fee, when money moves, what a worker's page shows and what a guest never has to hand over — the same answers a specialist would give you on a call.

Money and fees

What does MidBank Tipping cost me, as a worker?

Nothing to sign up and nothing monthly. The platform fee comes off the tip: 4% with a $0.50 minimum, and the guest can choose to cover it, in which case you keep the whole tip.

What is the fee and who pays it?

4% of the tip with a $0.50 minimum. The guest chooses: cover it and the worker keeps the whole tip, or leave it and it comes off the tip. Both numbers are shown on screen before payment.

How is the fee actually calculated?

Whichever is larger: 4% of the tip, or $0.50. On a $5 tip that is $0.50 (the minimum). On a $20 tip that is $0.80 (4%). The break-even point is $12.50 — below it the minimum applies, above it the percentage does.

The calculator on the pricing page shows the exact cents on any amount.

Is there a monthly fee, a setup fee or a contract?

No. There is nothing monthly, nothing to set up, and nothing to sign. The only charge is the per-tip platform fee.

Is MidBank a bank?

No. MidBank Tipping is a tipping product. MidBank is not a bank, does not hold deposits, and is not FDIC insured.

When do I actually get paid?

The payout rail is still being switched on. Tips are recorded to your ledger in full today, but no money moves yet and we are not promising a date. When that changes it will be posted on the changelog with the date.

Does the worker actually get the tip right now?

The tip is recorded to that person’s own ledger with the fee and the net printed on the same line. Today payments are in sandbox — no card is charged and no money moves — and the guest screen says so before anyone pays.

Setting it up

How do I add a business and my team?

A business name plus one team member is enough to start. Each person gets their own page and their own code as soon as you type their name — there is no implementation project.

What do I need to put it in front of a guest?

A tablet you already have for the countertop kiosk, a printed QR code or NFC tag, or a link you text or hand over after the job. Nothing to buy, rent or mount from us.

Which POS or card terminal does this work with?

We say plainly on the integrations page what is live today and what is not — there is no logo wall for a connection that has not been earned. The tipping page itself works independently of your POS.

For the team

How do I see what I earned?

Your dashboard lists every tip with the fee, who paid it and what you receive, one line per tip, with the reference from the audit log.

Who can see my page?

Anyone with the link or the code. It shows your first name, your role, and your photo if you added one. It never shows your contact details.

Can I use my own photo?

Yes, you upload it yourself from your claim link. We never generate a picture of a person.

What if a guest tips the wrong person?

Tell your manager. Every tip is on the audit log with a reference, so it can be found and corrected rather than argued about.

Does the owner get a record for the books?

Every tip is attributed to a person, not a pool, with an audit log you can hand to a bookkeeper, and a payroll CSV export instead of counting an envelope at close.

Tax, records and guests

What about taxes?

Every tip accrues to your own tax ledger as it happens, and the tax centre keeps a record in plain language for reporting tip income.

Do I need an app, as a guest?

No. The tip page opens in your browser — no app, no account, no phone number.

Will you have my phone number, as a guest?

No. The worker never sees your name, your number or your card details.

Can a guest get a receipt?

Yes, ask for one on the thank-you screen after paying. See how it works for the full flow.

Still have a question?

Set a business up yourself in a browser tab, or have a specialist walk you through the fee, the kiosk and your POS on a call — both doors are open.
